If you’ve had enough of historical fiction based on Tudor England and need a change perhaps A Spanish Hapsburg Trilogy would be just the thing.
When English author Linda Carlino first began visiting Spain she had no idea that years later she was going to write historical novels about Spanish royals.
But that’s exactly what she did. She wrote three novels about the most important descendents of Ferdinand and Isabella.
The books of the trilogy are connected (mother, son, grandson) but each book can be read separately.
That Other Juana (Juana la Loca) A story of obsessive love, uncontrolled passion – and cruel, cynical betrayal. (Juana’s sister was Catherine of Aragon).
A Matter of Pride (Charles V, HRE) An historical novel that takes a humorous and rather sceptical view of Charles V, the king, soldier and lover – a story of power, passion and regrets. (Juana’s son who controlled much of Europe ).
Wives & Other Women (Philip II of Spain ) The story of Philip seeking a suitable male heir in loveless marriages – and his compulsive pursuit of other women. (Philip was married to Mary Tudor; “Bloody Mary”. He sent the Armada to attack England ).
The books were published in English during 2007 - 08.
In 2009 That Other Juana was published in Portugal by Editorial Presença and the other two books of the trilogy will be published in Portugal early in 2012.
In March 2011 the Brazilian publisher Editora Europa bought the rights for That Other Juana and will publish it in Brazil and all its territories, in paperback and digital ebook editions, during 2012; the other two books of the trilogy will be published within two years.
All of Linda's books, paperbacks and Kindle Books, are available from both Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk
